THURSDAY LUNCH CLUB

The Thursday Lunch Club meets every Thursday at 12.30 in The Exchange, Sturminster Newton. Here, new acquaintances are made and those that attend regularly look forward to catching up with their friends over an excellent 2 course meal with tea or coffee for a very affordable £5.00.  This value for money weekly event can also include assisted transport. You may also be lucky enough to return home with one of the many raffle prizes.

CONTENTS

The menu is varied, but generally includes old favourites such as Cottage Pie or a Pork Roast dinner, and these are served by a welcoming group of ladies who are very familiar with the special requirements of some of their diners and know almost all of them by name.

Members of the Sturminster Lunch Club recently enjoyed a BBQ to celebrate Independence Day

Book your place at the Lunch club by telephoning the Age Concern office on 01258 475582.

There is always a warm welcome to be found at the Sturminster Newton Thursday Lunch Club which has been running for over 25 years. Started in 1987 with a grant of £25 from Age Concern Dorset, there have been a number of changes in location ranging from St Mary’s Church Hall to the old Sturminster hall.

2007 heralded a new beginning for the lunch club with the opening of The Exchange which offered space for dining and a fully equipped kitchen.

FOOD, FUN AND FRIENDSHIP AT THE LUNCH CLUB

The lunch club is run by a team of Age Concern North Dorset staff and volunteers. A recent addition to the team is our wonderful cook, John Powell who has quickly settled in to provide nourishing favourites including delicious roast dinners and casseroles, served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables, and wonderful desserts such as creamy rice pudding and lemon sponge with custard. Our lunch club regulars are very satisfied and are frequently heard to say that the meals are “very nice” or “lovely”.

The two course lunch, which includes tea or coffee, costs a very affordable £5. However the lunch club doesn’t just provide a value for money meal, it is also gives companionship, friendship, warmth and laughter.

Why not come along and find out for yourself this Thursday at 12.30pm at The Exchange.

If you are in need of transport (at an additional cost of £2) or would like further information, please contact Charlotte or Tracey on 01258 475582.
